LED illumination is fast becoming a bright, reliable and energy-efficient alternative to halogen illumination in microscopy. However, there are concerns over the ability of LEDs to render the actual colors of a stained specimen. A dedicated design of the LED light source can closely mimic halogen illumination and have a positive impact on the ability to distinguish colors in a specimen. This means that durability and energy-efficiency can go hand-in-hand with confidence in colors and confidence in diagnoses.
