The MSI is a multi-disciplinary, all-island research community which deals with all aspects of microscopy. The main aim of the society is to foster discussion and cooperation between those who use any form of microscopy in their work, be this in the academic or industrial world. The Annual Symposium is a unique opportunity for researchers of all levels to be exposed to new ideas and innovative technological developments which transcend traditional academic and industrial boundaries. Keynote lectures will give overviews on new developments and state-of-the-art research in the field and will be delivered by leading experts. Historically, the Symposium has provided an excellent forum for young researchers, particularly at postgraduate level, to present their data and findings at a conference. We will continue to support this very strongly as this is one of the few meetings in Ireland where PhD students of very disparate backgrounds can engage in scientific debate.
