3D View of a 5x5x5 Micron Section of a Drosophila Larval Brain at 5 nm Isotropic Resolution

Sample was imaged on a Zeiss Neon 40 using the Serial-Block-Face SEM approach. A complete wiring diagram of the brain can be constructed when one images its entire volume. FIB-SEM enables sub 10 nm resolution along z-axis, which is crucial for neuronal wiring diagram reconstruction (Sample provided by Dr. Richard Fetter, HHMI Janelia Farm Research Campus, USA).
