Andor Technology announced the support for all Andor imaging EMCCD cameras within JPK Instruments products for nano-biotechnology.
With the addition of support for the EMCCD cameras to the software, true integration is obtained between fluorescence imaging on the one hand and NanoWizard AFM imaging or NanoTracker optical tweezers on the other. Scientists using the DirectOverlay functionality can now directly use the images coming from their EMCCD cameras.
As an example, single molecule fluorescence detection and high resolution AFM imaging of single DNA-bound proteins is an application that truly benefits from the combination of both company's imaging products.
Existing JPK customers already owning an EMCCD camera can upgrade their system by purchasing a license for the Linux Software Development Kit (SDK) as well as the Andor driver for JPK's camera software.
With the inclusion of full support for iXon+ EMCCD cameras, JPK Instruments paves the way for fully integrated AFM and single-molecule fluorescence applications.
EMCCD
Since 2001, this camera range has had an influence on photon starved imaging applications, from live cell microscopy to photon counting astronomy. The back-illuminated iXonEM+ combines photon collection efficiencies of up to 95% QE with single photon sensitivity through virtual elimination of the read noise detection limit.
NanoTracker
With the NanoTracker, the user can trap and track particles from several µm down to 30nm with the ability to control, manipulate and observe samples from vesicles to whole cells in real time with nanometer precision.
