The optical digital microscope VHX-600 offers a resolution of 54 Mio. pixels with a threefold CCD-screen sensor. This is achieved through a horizontal and vertical shifting of each CCD-element. In this process nine pictures are created, producing a sharp picture when put together. On the color screen (plus digital zoom), that is integrated in the microscope, it is possible to show an 18.000-fold enlargement. Most important is the combination between a top quality objective, an efficient arithmetic unit and a graphic card, that is powerful in exactly the same way. These parts are harmonized to each other in an optimum way.
The mobility and simplicity in using this microscope is a feature. Materials or samples often have to be examined directly at the production site and not in the laboratory. Samples often need to be dissected or cut up to be examined properly. But with the optical digital microscope there is no need of a tripod, instead there is the ability to simply hold the camera head to the object that is to examine. Furthermore, the microscope is equipped with an automatic correction of blurs. Keyence, too, produces laser scanning color microscopes that are able to display - similar to a scanning electron microscope. Example for that is the model VK-9700: This microscope offers a maximum resolution of 0,001 µm (=1 nanometer) and enables through that an enlargement of up to 18.000-times.
