Science - Image Processing
Jan. 30, 2012In 1997 Wayne Rasband, computer scientist at the National Institutes of Health (NIH, Bethesda, USA), released the first version of ImageJ. It is the successor of the image processing software NIH Image, which was well known at this time. NIH Image was exclusively tied to the Macintosh platform, the new software, however, is independent from platforms since it is completely programmed in Java, the lingua franca in the computer world.
moreJul. 26, 2010Part 1: Deconvolution is an image restoration technique which improves image contrast, resolution and signal to noise ratio. In modern optical microscopy and biological research deconvolution is becoming a fundamental processing step which allows for better image analysis. Deconvolution remains however a challenging task as the result depends strongly on the algorithm chosen, the parameters settings and the kinds of structures in the processed dataset.
