Ultra-low Temperature Scanning Probe Microscope

The discoveries of superconductivity, the quantum Hall effect and the fractional quantum Hall effect were all the result of measurements made at increasingly lower temperatures. Now, pushing the regime of the very cold into the very small, a research team from the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), the University of Maryland, Janis Research Company, Inc., and Seoul National University, has designed and built the most advanced ultra-low temperature scanning probe microscope (ULTSPM) in the world. more

High Time Resolution and Precise Measurements

PicoQuant will introduce a yellow picosecond pulsed laser with variable repetition rate at SPIE Photonics West from January 22 to 27, 2011 in San Francisco, California.
The pulsed yellow laser is the first laser with a wavelength of 596 nm that generates short pulses below 120 ps even at variable repetition rates up 40 MHz. The short pulse width ensures a very high time resolution and researchers benefit from precise measurements. more

Making the Most of Large and Complex Samples-

Olympus released the Multi-position Solution module for its cellSens Dimension software. The module is designed to make the study of large or complicated samples simple, flexible and precise. Typically, the acquisition of microscope images has been a trade off between a need to capture pictures at a high level of magnification and a desire to maintain the widest possible field of view. more
