Combination of Optical Microscopy and AFM-

PicoQuant has combined its time-resolved confocal fluorescence microscope MicroTime200 with Brukers BioScope Catalyst Atomic Force Microscope (AFM). The synchronized acquisition of these two systems enables simultaneous recordings of AFM and optical images of the same sample region and makes new investigation schemes in the f more

Seamless Integration of Atomic Force and Light Microscopy

Agilent Technologies announced the availability of the Agilent 6000ILM AFM, an atomic force microscopy (AFM) platform. The Platform is a research solution that seamlessly integrates the capabilities of an AFM with those of an inverted light microscope or an inverted confocal microscope. The 6000ILM supports a wide variety of scanning probe microscopy imaging modes and lets life science researchers go beyond the optical diffraction limit to achieve nanoscale spatial resolution with unprecedented ease of use. more

Near-Field Microscope

Scientists of the research group of Prof. Dr. Alfred Meixner and Dr. Dai Zhang from the Institute of Physical and Theoretical Chemistry at the University of Tübingen, Germany, have developed a near-field microscope that can measure the optical properties of e. g. semiconductor thin films with a spatial resolution and sensitivity long thought unachievable due to fundamental physical laws (diffraction limit). Both the optical spectrum and the topography of a surface can be mapped simultaneously with nanometer precision - a nanometer corresponding to one millionth of a millimeter. more
