The cooled pco.1600 CCD camera records images with its high resolution of 1600x1200pixel at 30 fps (which is faster than a PAL video stream) in 14bit dynamic. It is cooled with a maximum temperature difference of 50°C versus ambient temperature. The camera system has up to 4GB image memory in the camera (camRAM).

The cooled digital pco.2000 camera system has excellent features for applications, which require high resolution and high performance at low light situations. Especially at weak light situations the cooled 2048 x 2048 pixels with their 14bit dynamic are perfectly suited. The new approach with the primary image memory (camRAM ub to 4GB) being integrated into the camera enables new operation modes, like ring buffer recording. If the exact moment of a dynamic experiment is not known in advance, the camera simply is operated in ring buffer mode.

The cooled CCD camera system pco.4000 has excellent qualities for life science applications. The resolution of 4008x2672pixel can replace a lot of images at high magnification from a microscope by one image at lower magnification and therefore extending the lifetime of the bio markers. Due to its 36x24mm image sensor format the camera can be hooked with its Nikon-F-Mount to many microscopes. Because of its cooled 14bit performance it is absolutely suited for low light applications.

The 10bit CMOS camera pco.1200 hs has a superior image rate of 640 fps at full resolution (1280 x 1024pixel) which can be further increased by reducing the area of interest i.e. 1357fps at VGA resolution. With its 10bit pixels it comprises image memory in the camera (camRAM) of up to 4GB. Due to the ring buffer operation mode, the recordings can be stopped when the event has happened. Still the sequence of interest would be in the image memory, therefore the “history” is not lost. Like all cameras of the pco.camera family the user can select between two pixelclocks.

The improved pixelfly qe camera system combines superior sensitivity, i.e. superior quantum efficiency (up to 65%) with high performance (dynamic 12bit) in an ultra compact casing (39mm x 39mm x 68mm). The camera allows for short exposure times and a fast image transfer at noise levels, which are usually only found double as expensive cooled camera systems - 7 e- rms readout noise at ambient room temperature. These features enable the application to both, either low light situations or high dynamic requirements. The adjustable exposure times range from 5µs - 65s.
