The Very Large Telescope (VLT) of the European Southern Observatory (ESO) at Paranal, Chile, will be equipped with four cw high power Laser Guide Stars on the basis of amplified and frequency-doubled diode laser systems. Narrow band and diffraction-limited laser light sources of more than 20 W exactly on Sodium resonance at 589 nm start a new phase at the European Southern Observatory. Toptica won the final development and supply contract which foresees a deployment of the lasers at the telescope in Sept 2013. more

Tunable Diode Lasers

Grating stabilized diode lasers in Toptica's proprietary pro technology can now be equipped with laser diodes from 370 nm to 1770 nm. The TA pro, a master oscillator power amplifier system, provides up to 1.5W output. Frequency converted lasers offer UV, green or yellow light, e.g. at 589 nm with 20W (Guide Star) or 2W (Na laser cooling). Other recent developments include fiber amplified tunable diode lasers, cw lasers at 190 nm, and high speed locking electronics for linewidth narrowing below 1 Hz. more

A New Microscopy System

Arivis presents the arivis Browser – a new, innovative imaging software system. The arivis Browser software handles images of almost any size with up to 5 dimensions. The software controls different devices as microscopes, cameras or stages and imports images from most of the important imaging formats. It can be extended very flexible by new device controls, importers or handling and analysis tools using the built-in plug-in system. It allows fluorescence as well as widefield imaging, time series as well as high content screening applications. more
