Chapter 6: Analysis of Microtubule Orientation

Directionality analysis of biological structure is an attractive way to extract their characteristics. This chapter takes an example of measuring orientation of microtubules within single cell using time lapse sequences. The explained technique combines particle tracking and circular statistics. By following this chapter, you will learn how to set the parameters of a particle tracking algorithm available under ImageJ, and how to analyze trajectories and directionality using circular statistics, using either Matlab or R software.
