Super Resolution Microscopy with Cobolt Jive 561 nm -
A High Performance DPSS Laser
Cobolt has introduced a higher power version of its Cobolt Jive 561nm. The laser is available on the 05-01 Series single frequency platform with an output power of 500 mW CW. 200 mW and 300 mW powers are also available on the same platform. Lower power versions (25 mW-150 mW) can be found on the 04-01 Series SLM platform.
The Cobolt Jive 561nm operates in a TEM00 beam (M2<1.1). A new proprietary cavity design provides ultra-low noise performance of typically <0.1% rms (over 20 Hz-20MHz and over 10-40ºC) and a narrow spectral linewidth of <1MHz as well as making the laser immune to optical feedback.
Another feature is the compact size of both laser head and controller: the laser head measures only 125 x 70 x 45 mm. The controller (CDRH or OEM) measures only 190 x 72 x 28 mm and can be remotely accessed for operation and monitoring of the laser system over digital (RS-232) or analog interfaces.
Cobolt Jive 561nm 500mW CW is perfectly suitable as an excitation source for super resolution microscopy techniques, such as STED, PALM and TIRF.
All Cobolt's lasers are manufactured using Cobolt's proprietary HTCure Technology in a hermetically sealed package, which provides a very high level of immunity to varying environmental conditions and exceptional reliability. Lasers built using this technology have shown to withstand multiple 60G mechanical shocks in operation without any sign of degraded performance. They can be exposed to extreme temperatures (>100ºC) and are insensitive to pressure and humidity.
